Repz
hey hey well i started my planted tank on my birthday nov the 30th actually bought the tank and all. i decided to set up a planted aquarium for my birthday and it actually has been a very fun project. I established the filter using my old ceramic rings and then using filtered water for the wool from my 5footer. i bought Jebo R310 Dimensions 31.5 x 23.5 x 37cm h 27 litres 7 gallons with 1 x 8 watt Fluoro Lights (i want to retrofit this for more lighting) and Top FIlter Flora: Java Ferns, Some sort of grass plant Fauna: Neon Tetras and one L104 Clown Pl*co this is the 2nd day Well i got rid of alot of the java ferns and added it back into my larger tank this is an old pic with still the java ferns i bought some bannana lillies and some willow moss tied it onto the larger drift wood with fishing line which kinda stuffed up but its still together added a Anubis Nana on driftwood in there. A few Neons died during the DIY co2 stage i accidentally had the inside tube too long and it was taking up the water and the mixture got into the tank stressing out all my fish got a few guppies and 2 dwarf gouramis this is a more recent pic, today actually at 2:29 am btw i just bought a diffuser just waiting on it and im going to retrofit the light tell me what your thoughts are
[RK]
careful about the banana lillies. they will become massive and reach the top of the tank. thus blocking out right for the plants below. i bought some and then took them out.
vwboy53
It's funny you started a planted tank with that type of tank. My first planted tank was / is an AquaOne (cheap jebo rip off) of the same size. I would also agree about the banana lillies. I had some but they kept on blocking the light. I eventually got rid of it. A word of advice, stay away from the large Amazon Sword and crypt varieties, as once they are in the subsrate, they dont like coming out! BTW Do you use any Co2? Whats your fertiliser regiem? As for retro fitting the lighting, you may be surprised on how much you can grow with your existing lighting. All else fails, your can just add a second Compact FL to bump up the WPG. Here is my site, you can sorta see a journey of the tank taking shape. Be warned, the site is pretty crappy
wui39
Neon Tetras and one L104 Clown Pl*co ← Pleco a dirty word now is it? Cool tank anyway, I'm hoping mine will turn out as well when I get it started.
