vwboy53
Hi All! I just got my first set of Apistogramma cacatuoides ~ double red variety. I got 4 in total and they are in a heavily planted 25L tank. Anyway, one of them has taken to stay inside a cave (terracotta pot) and I am wondering if it may be getting ready to spawn? Or could it just be staking a piece of territory? It does not appeared to be bullied by any of the other fish. It does not chase any other fish away though, but it wont get out of the way from my nosy golden sucker who just has to have a peep at the new cave. AdamR
Beautiful Fish Im sure. They will first find territories like yours has. When its ready to breed the females will go bright yellow and the male will display to her. They were my first cichlid and i knew when they wanted some action so im sure you'll be able to work it out. Post some piccies of them when you can, i miss my pair. vwboy53
Thanks Adam, I think I was just too hopeful but the male is all coloured and struting his stuff when I got him. ~ show off I might post some pics on Sunday. Cheers Rob
abob
Thanks Adam, I think I was just too hopeful but the male is all coloured and struting his stuff when I got him. ~ show off I might post some pics on Sunday. Cheers Rob ← I look forward to some pictures! As Adam said the females (if you have some, re other post) will go very yellow prior to spawning but staking out a pot is a good sign.
