gus75
Hi Guys Just a few questions. I'm moving from Sydney to Brisbane and my tank will be following me a few weeks later when my wife comes up, so i need to have a to do list ready for her so she can pack our fish for the trip. Will they be ok in bags inside 20ltr buckets with battery powered air pumps? What is the best way to regulate the temp on the trip? Will they last that long in the car? I dont want to sell them and start again as we are both attached to them (wife has named all of them ) so any other tips to get them all up there safely would be great. thanks
Ducksta
Search back for a post started by Ant Re: his interstate move. Lots of good info there
foai
Why not arrange for them to be shipped by airmail to a convenient aquarium in your area in Brisbane before you leave and have them borad there until you arrive in Brisbane? They can stay as long as needed until you set up the tank. If you a really attached to the fish I think this is a wiser option than putting them in a bucket for a 10 hour trip by car. D6C1
I agree with David. It would rather painful to lose a fish that way that has such sentimental value.

Ged
I always just use a bucket (without the bag) and use a battery operated air pump. I have placed a "T" join in the air line and used the same air pump to run two buckets at the same time and it provided good aeration. Also have a look at these topics Transporting Fish and Tanks Ged
Ant
The way i set it up I was able to have fully cycled sponge filters (powered by Air pumps) running of a 300watt inverter. It allowed the fish to remain in the tubs until my tanks were setup and cycled. The fish were in 140lr storage containers that were only one third full. When i got to the other end i simply topped up the water. I floated a piece of styrophome on the surface of the water to stop water movement while driving. The tubs were lifted into the car, the inverter was connected and away I went. It worked better than I expected, just make sure you have sponge filters that attach to the sides of the containers other wise they move around while driving. If I had tanks at the other end to put them in I'd simply do it the way Ged suggested. Ill have to post some pictures..lol. Anthony
