First Strip a sucess

Yesterday I stripped my first female of here babies. It was alot easier than I expected and got 22 nice Aul Lwanda Fry from her.

The reason that I stripped here was that Im going away and didnt want her to spit in the tank and have all the babies cleaned up.

I used a match and found that once here mouth was open they just emptied out. Is it always this easy or did I just get lucky?

It can be as easy as that. I would be more inclined to use one of the cotton ear cleaners to open her mouth, rather than a match stick.

I usually just use my finger to open her mouth. It's an art. I used to usea bic pen lid, but prefer my own finger. Less likely to damage the fish then with a slightly sharpened object. Need to be quite delicate with smaller fish though.

Well done mate. I can remember my first and it was also easy. Now i just net catch them and hold them in my hand ,( still in the water) and in no time they spit them out into the net.
