GTR73
Love your work. Your design is very similar to my carpenter mate's cabinets he builds up here in QLD. Here's the 4ft design he built me: He used the prefab skirting-board from Bunnings for some of the joinery work as you can see. Did you use skirting-board pieces also? Note the hood, he joined two skirting-board pieces together to complete each side (neat way to do it I think). My mate has made about half dozen cabinets so far, all 3ft and 4ft, and he is planning a 5ft for himself. On the 4ft cabinet he decided to incorporate a centre pillar to help load spread the 300 odd litres of weight and prevent any structural problems. Overkill IMO but he's very thorough. He reckons Bunnings are top dollar for their materials (which I was happy to pay), but he thinks he can do it a lot cheaper if he got serious about it. I like your plumbing work too. Very well done. fman
There's a lot of satisfaction in building your own cabinet. I've built one too. My tank's 5*18*18, made of 6mm glass. I've made a hood from pine, though am concerned about the weight. How much weight will such a tank comfortably support? Cheers, Frank
