bobby
Hello all? Does anyone know anything about this species "Lamprologus Tretacephalus"? How much they are worth? How they breed? Cheers..
Eddie Salita
Price will vary on availability. But shouldnt be much more than $10-25 each in shops. Fairly easy to breed substrate spawning lamprogine similar to sexfasciatus. Eat molluscs and other small fish. Can be VERY agressive when spawning. A breeding pair are not community fish! sexfasciatus are generally worth a bit more. Its a matter of taste, but Nicer colour too . But good trets are really nice also. trofius
If you want these awsome fish get yourself a 4x18x18 minimum buy about 6-10 wait until they pair off this may take a bit, when this has happened remove any survivors and sell them off.( of coursce any that were being picked on were removed before they died) Trets are one of the nicest looking fishes as mentioned similar to sexys but with one less verticle stripe and sexys have a yellow colour to them they will get big up to 20cm for males and 12 for females, up to 500 eggs a hit if you get that lucky. Will they still pair off at 6cm? And what would be a resonable price for them at that size? How old do u think they would be at that size? Also what is the Trets how do they look like? wui39
I saw them fairly recently at Campsie for around $20 at 5cm. Great looking fish though.
Eddie Salita
Sorry, trets is jus shortened slang for tretacephalus. So, same thing. They may pair off at 6cm, but the age of the fish is more important than the size IME. Their age at that size would depend on alot of things. But you could be fairly sure they would not be much more than a year old. They arent as slow as Alto's but alot of the Tangs grow slower than other cichlids. They get double that size. So when they breed, and only then can you be 100% sure you have a pair. Trofius' method would be the best bet at getting a good breeding pair. Tis good advice. If you keep a pair with other fish, be ready to take them out, or lose them though. Cheers, Jason XOX
trofius
sorry about my tang slang, but Neolamprologus tretocephalus gets annoying to type, as does Neolamprologus sexfasciatus!...hence trets and sexys! as mentioned about $20 each at 5cm males will grow much quicker than females pair at about 8-10cm male will be 10cm female will still be about 7cm that would be maybe 18months old, they may pair up and never breed, then again they could spit eggs every 4 weeks! weired fish. as for the aggresion, any fish from the neolamprologus family will hate each other especially if they are teh same type and sex. Sexys do well and breed better in a community tank( not your favorite fishes but Trets will be at home as a single fish in a community tank, they are actually pretty sooky, This was one of my boys at 7cm Get them they are great fish but seriously you may loose a few.
