Nazim
A month ago I had a 4ft setup with flourishing breeding cichlids and a 2ft tank with breeding bristlenose catfish. Then I began the process of some major renovations at my place and a whole bunch of bad stuff happened. While a section of the roof was partially off, we got hit by a major storm and water got into the wiring causing a power failure. By the morning all except for a handful of cichlids and my bristlenose survived. If that wasn't bad enough, I had to move my tanks for a second phase in the renovations and in the process of emptying my 2ft tank, I had a mishap and the tank cracked. Fortunately I had already transferred the bristlenose from the 2ft tank to my 4ftr, preventing further loss of stock. Anyhow, having lost all my favourite fish including some fantastic electric yellows, moorii, mainganos etc etc, I decided to go around to LFS in the Bathurst and Orange area to shop for replacements. Nothing they had could even come close to replacing the large and healthy cichlids I lost. Needless to say I was very disheartened, but with the renovations approaching conclusion in January, I am determined to restock. If any of you know of availability of well priced healthy cichlids in the Bathurst/Orange area, please let me know.

Nazim
Yeah I might have to make a trip towards Sydney at some stage. Just not sure what to get. It would be nice to be able to just go look at some and see what grabs my attention Danpri's mum's shop was the first place I went looking for, but sadly it seems to not be there anymore!? I know there was a guy in Bathurst who was selling from his home, but I've lost his details and he's not a member of this forum that I know of. Fossy
Danpri is still in Bathurst but in another shop in an arcade around the corner, up the road and around the corner again. The guy who was selling from home I reckon his name is dan too and I think he gave up.

Good to know it belongs to Danpri as he is bound to have some nice cichlids there. You are right, the other guy in Bathurst was also named Dan. I'm not surprised to hear he may have given up as it would be difficult to run a business out of one's garage. He did have some nice fish but at the time I was stocked to the hilt. I'll get down to Orange very soon

Nazim
get something monomorphic... yellows are good... pseudotropheus acei... ?? ← Good suggestions. Yellows were among the ones I lost and aceis are a nice looking fish too. Going to spend all this week painting the house and once my tank is moved to it's desired location, I'll make the trip to Orange and perhaps towards Penrith and Parramatta to pick up what I can from LFS there. Pity I can't get to Nigel's sale at Paramatta at this time.
Nazim
HISTORY REPEATS ITSELF ..... I must be the unluckiest person around as a couple of weeks ago an appliance malfunctioned during the middle of the night and tripped a circuit cutting off oxygen to my fishtank. This time I lost over 40 amazing fish including several breeding pairs of mainganos, an electric blue, a few electric yellows and my pride and joy a 12cm ghost knife fish. The only survivors were my bristlenose catfish and a handful of maingano fry. As this is the second time I've lost fish to an electrical failure, I was pretty disheartened and felt like giving up the game. In the end though I decided to brush myself off and get back on the saddle. I have always wanted to give some Tangs a go and fortunately was able to trade a bunch of my bristlenose for 4 tropheus duboisis at my LFS. I would like to get a few more compatible fish. The LFS told me that his source is a local breeder and said he would pass on my contact details, but I have not heard back. If anyone on the forum knows of a breeder in the Bathurst / Central West area with super reasonable prices, please drop me a line. You can contact me via my website www.nazimcricket.com I'll also chuck a WTB in the classifieds Cheers, Nazim
