i use phillips 5000k Triphosphur Day Light Alto 36w 1220mm on all my tanks. They cost me $2.60 but that is with my staff discount. (retail approx $4)

I find that they are quite good - i would like to try the 10000k, but i dont think my americans would really appreciate too much light.

depends on the look u want. I have used:

10000K by themselves ( Sylvania Brand ) I found them to be too yellow for my liking, same as the 6700K daylights, too yellow

10000K + actinics - (both Sylvania)looks really good together, this is what i use atm

I use the above cobination on Tropheus tanks and malawi tanks ( haps and mbuba ) not sure how american fish would like the extra light....

If they are too yellow you might have to start using 15K metal halides wink2.gif
