sandy001
I have 100ltr fry raising tanks with 2 sponge filters in each tank. Doing 30% water changes two times a week. Just wondering how many 5-6cm Protomelas 'Taiwan Reef' this size tank could hold. How many fry does everyone in their tanks. Cheer's Dave
wui39
100 litres would translate to almost a standard 3ft right? I use to stock fry at about 1fry to 1-3 litres of water although this was probably on the lowish side
sandy001
Hi Wui Tank is 24" long x 18" wide x 14" high. Currently have about 60 5cm fry in this tank but water quality is declining as fry grow larger and eat more. Thinking that 30-40 fry is more appropriate. wui39
yeah 30 would be better, 60 is getting on the high side especially if their 5cm long.

Ged
Dave There is a good article on the Practical Fish Keeping web site. http://www.practicalfishkeeping.co.uk/pfk/...?article_id=125 While is is fairly general you will still get some good information. sandy001
Ged Buy these calculations I could keep approx 20 5cm fish. Alot less than I am currently keeping. Lucky I have 6 more tanks on order. Better get some more sponge filters cycling Thank's Dave
canerod
If water quality is declining try daily water changes till you get the new tanks. Ive had no problems raising 35 peacock fry to 6cm in 100 lt tanks, and i was only changing 20% once a week. My filtration was 2x1.5ltr corner filters with filter wool and crushed coral.
