Forgive my ignorance but I would like to learn about a couple of species . confused.gif

Are peppermints just another variety of Bristle ? I have successfully bred BN's (who hasn't) but am keen to try the spectacular peppermints. wub.gif

What about the "gold spots " ?? I don't know what log no.s they are .

How do you find out ? (for a beginner ) . Can anyone recommend a good site or book that explains what the catfish in our shops are ?

Peppermints are from the same family, ancistrus. Alot of people are having success breeding peppermints, most important factors seem to be water cleanliness as well as age and size. General consensus seems to be 3 or so years old.

gold spots are L001, good site would have to be www.planetcatfish.com a good book would be Aqualog.

www.planetcatfish.com would probably be the best place to start, until you get serious, then aqualog is a good book to purchase for identification.

The common stuff I see that are available:

BN's

Normal BN's

Pepermints (same genus as BN's)

Albino BN's (same genus as Bn)

Long fin bn's

Plecos

L001 - Goldspots

Sailfins

Normal pleco

Other than these you start getting into the more exotic stuff.
