koiboi
hi, I have 3 pepermint cats in a 2 foot planted tank...they are doing very well and look quite healthy. I feed them wafers but have never been able to get on the zucchinis....any tips? I've tried using forks, tying it to rocks - no luck whatsoever. I cant see any munching evidence on the plants...could they be munching on the log that the plants are tied to? There is also a Betta in the tank...could he be the problem? novafishy
How big are the peps? do you notice them eating the wafers that you give them? Does the betta harrass them? My betta used to harrass other fish in the tank... have you tried pumpkin and cucumber? try to ask the previous owner (if you didn't buy it from an LFS) what food he fed them. MikeWs Fish
My peppermints go crazy for cucumbers. they don't like wafers or zuchini much but they will go through half of a large cucumber easily over night. Try cutting a cucumber into quarters plitting it down the middle. Weigh one quarter down with a stainless steel fork. You should see it recuded to just skin overnight. Edit: if there peps arent very big and you dont have lots of filtration, dont put in a quarter of a cucumber... maybe 1/8 of a cucumber.
wormboy
Mine are the opposite to Mikes, love the zuchinni but wont touch the cucumber. I think my plec taught them to be fussy. I also have found that they like the little yellow bell squash that are coming into season now. These may be more appropriate for you than large chunks of veges. Be carefull with pumpkin in a 2fter it will quickly turn the water milky. -Mat-
koiboi
thanks for the advise.. My trio are about 7cms. no, I really havnt seen them eating the wafer but its usually gone by morning...I'll try the pumpkin, squash and cucumber this weekend. the previous owner used to feed the zucchinis i think...but I'll check with him. I might also try moving the betta thanks again...will let you know how I go Koib Ps - I assume the pumpkin and squash are raw when they go it?
