ezat
Hey guys, Its been a while since Ive been on here 1. If I was to breed cichlids, would I need to be a registered breeder? 2. Will shops buy fish off you e.g 10 electric yellows at 1-2cm's approx?. I was told you would get a 1/3 of the price they sell them for. Thanks Ezat
gizmo42au
you would need to have them at least 5cm approx, 1-2cm is too small.

AdamR
i believe it was a hypothetical statement. No you dont need to be a registered breeder. You can do what you like with a your fish. being a registered breeder on ACE just is a way of advertising what your breeding so people can find out where to get whatever fish. Fish shops will buy off you, but are not under any obligations to. The best idea is to talk to these shops before you have bred the fish. Especially if you can form a good relationship with a shop your chances are highly increased in doing so. Last but not least. The third of the selling price was a suggestion made by a few people in particular CThompson and has since by many been considered a bench mark. CThompsons suggestion was 1/3 of selling price if paid in cash or 1/2 if swapping for store credit. Hope that helped to answer your questions.
