MoliroMan
Jim....luv the moliros...looks like they are breeding already, any fry? Let us know of your experiences with keeping tropheus with demasoni....there has been a few threads out there asking whether Ts can be kept with malawi cichlids. Pheebee....no problems...look forward to seeing some pics.

kilroy
Hi Lee, Are they Ndole Reds? That's exactly what our reds look like, some are already able to change colour to a dark grey/yellow or a red/yellow colour when they are excited. Thanks for posting and keeping this thread going!! Cheers Shane

A couple of our reds are quite yellow at times. Cheers Shane
scottydont
Man tropheus are nice, I am starting to save up for a tank all to themselves!
lee427
yeah good idea mate if u get the bug you'll have a couple of colonies. It's good to have a troph's only tank you'll get to now what there really like good luck with it mate and make sure u ask a heap of questions before u get them u can never be to prepared also mate the aggression is differrent in each troph species so take that into account before you decide on something
MoliroMan
James....luv the bembas?....how many do u have in the tank and how big are they now? They look quite impressive and also one of my favourite Ts...... I am sure everyone here would luv to see more pics! If u r a real T devotee it is almost impossible to have only one colony ! Lee...great looking ilangi,,,,already showing awesome colours...r they from Jim? U will be so impressed when they reach full adult size!!! Also some sage advice for "scottydont" - reminds me a bit of what Yoda would say to a young padawan!! I just wanted to add that aggression levels also varie amongst individuals of the same variant....so some unlucky guy might end up with a very aggressive ilangi colony....however, the key is to keep as many as possible (without increasing nitrates to unacceptable levels) and to have them in a long tank with enough hiding places! Shane....whatever u do don't mix juvenile Ts in one fry grow out tank....unless they are very different, u can have a hard time telling them apart. One of the attractions of keeping Ts is the diverse colours they display according to mood and social interaction.....i really believe it is a way they use to communicate to one another....the chamelion of the cichlid world! How is your search for your next T colony going? Scottydont....feel free to ask any questions u want about these amazing creatures! Just a word of warning...make sure u have a lot of self-control, otherwise u will be tempted to get the next and the next and the next colony!! thx Dave
MoliroMan
come on guys from interstate and Sydney....we want to see your more exotic tropheus...not the run of the mill stuff that we see everyday.... we want to see actual pics of fish u keep, not ones u find on the net.....and don't worry, we won't go over to your place and steal them so don't be afraid to post them!!!! here are some i am sure everyone wants to see: chaitika kasanga or any other red rainbows linangu yellow murago green and yellow any brichardi!!!!! We are interested in seeing anything u got! I promise we won't start hounding u for fry unless it is something i really want!! Remember, the aim is to promote awareness of our little bluntheads! thx
keleher
hey MoliroMan i only have a group of 4 i did a trade with some one. iv been looking for a while to get more but no luck. Two types im serious about getting are chaitika and ilangi so if anyone can help let me know. MoliroMan
i might be organising a shipment to Perth via Waruna so maybe i could help....i think Perth is the real hub of where tropheus nuts live and can't get enough of them!!! I think when your colonies all mature and start breeding, then the demand from Ts will go down. I am also thinking of getting a colony of WC chaitika in if Craig from Parramatta aquariums can deliver!

How is your search for your next T colony going? thx Dave Dave, I have a dozen Ndole Reds and a dozen Duboisi in a single tank (both courtesy of Jim). I did a bit of research and made sure I didn't have two different types that might cross breed. Aline has some Lufubu for me when I get my new tank ready. Played squash tonight (hence the late post) and was inquiring about mini reefs with a guy from the courts who I know does marine aquariums as a hobby. I told him I was after a 5x2 and he just happened to have one in his garage gathering dust. He was divorced a little while ago and moved into a unit, so the tank went into the garage. Now he wants the room, so he is virtually giving it away to me for $250. Includes cabinet, hood, mini reef and he will even help me set it up. I saw a photo and it is in great condition. I just need lights and a pump for the mini reef. He has to re-glue some of the plumbing that he took apart, but I should have a new tank in a couple of weeks hopefully. So now I am stoked, and I am very close to getting my next batch of T's. Luckily my girlfriend is just as into them as me Cheers Shane
MoliroMan
Shane...i guess u didn't play much squash tonight!!! Good things happen to those who luv tropheus...!!! Dave, Will probably move the reds and duboisi into the 5x2 when it is cycled and move the lufubu into their tank. It is a 300L 4 footer so it will do them while they are juvies til I get something bigger (Ah the never ending quest for a bigger tank!) Can't wait til I get the tank now, should be awesome. Judging by the photo's it is in as new condition. This guy was very particular with his stuff. As for how many lufubu, according to the calculator on Steve's Tropheus site, I can have 24 adults in my existing tank. Probably won't go for that many, maybe 12-15 and see how I go. MoliroMan
u should go for 20-25 to account for any losses or removal of over-aggressive males.

waruna
Or are u not being honest with us and posting pics taken by your wife? Hey Mate, You are not the only one who said this to me, WAZ said the same thing. I think this is the biggest compliment as yet, you guys find it hard to believe I take these pics oooohoooo. I'm catching up with WAZ within the next two weeks and we are planning to visit a few shops in QLD, I'll take some pics then and get him to tell you all about it. I'll post some pics tonight. Hey Shane thanks for posting the pics, I’m sure yours will colour up nicely in no time. Cheers, Waruna
