My saulosi are happy

Hi all,

I recently moved my saulosi (2m\4f) into my fish room and they moved from a standard 4' tank to a 2x18x18. After some inital issues (lost a female) and a massive mouthful (25 + bubs) THey must ahve settled in nicely as my remaining 3 girls have a good mouthful each all within 5 days of each other hug.gif. I suspected that something was going on as the sub-dominant male (who I put in there to stop the dom male from attacking his girls) started to colour up. Then one by one they got some wub.gif 'in.

So I am pretty stoked as it has been a quite month or so in the room with nothing to report. The trouble I have now is identifying who is closer to the release date, when I will have to try and catch her and put her in fry saver, oh well that can wait until later smile.gif

cheers

good work. i hav 2 female's and one is currently holding. but i dont wait for the 2 weeks or watever i put them into a 2 foot that has been divided so it is 1 foot really and leave them in there. a much better survival rate that way. good luck

Thanks for that I am pretty happy. I was advised that a 2(w)x2(d)x18(h) would be the minimum but unfortunately I bought my breeding setup with 12 2x18x18 and 2 6x2x18's, there are only so many grow tanks I can justify. I had grown these guys up from 3cm fry from 2 separate (really good) bloodlines IMHO thumb.gif. They started in a standard 2' tank moved, to a standard 4' tank and then squashed into a 2x18x18 tank as I urgently needed the 4' tank for electric yellows. Initally I had some serious aggression problems in the smaller tank size with the male harassing one of his smaller girls to death. So I added a second male and now he chases him around all day. There are alot of rocks and hidey holes so I guess that is the key here. I will get back once I find how many fry I get from them

cheers
