jbounce
I just found that I have little mozzie like or mini fly looking insects growing all over the surface of my tank. Does Anyone know how I can get rid of these? My Red Devil has no interest in these so he will not eat them. The Red Devil is in a 4x1.5x1.5 foot tank all by itself. I was thinking of putting in some fish that would eat insects, was thinking about adding mbunas as they are very quick and can fend for themselves. Would they eat the insects? How about turning the heater off? would that stop them growing? I have another tank for gold fish so there is no heater - i noticed that there are no insects growing. Does anyone else have this problem? If so any suggestions on what I can do? Thanks.

jbounce
No I dont have much surface movement, Only the out put from a fluval 404 filter on one corner of the tank. Is that why? maybe I should get some airstones-i used to think they were just for decoration purposes.
coryadorer
i WANT these to start growing one of my tanks, give 'em some interesting food. id say just put the fluval higher up so there is more surface movement, no need for airstones.
BlakeyBoyR
I wouldn't go turning that heater off unless you plan on making a wooly coat for your RD
spoonta66
put a drop of olive oil on the surface of the water. this will cause the loss of surface tension making the little buggers lose thier grip. once they start floating down and wrigling like crazy the fish will no doubt eat them all up.
