poxboy
I've got myself a big old 6x2x2 that I want to seperate into 3 2x2x2 sections. What sort of perspex and silicone should I use, and how many holes should I drill in it. What size should the holes be, I was thinking 5 mm, is that big enough? Also, where do I buy perspex ? Cheers. ViS
Depending on what you are planning to keep, I'd go egg crate over perspex. If you want to use perspex, then drill a lot of holes. 5mm will be big enough, but I'd be putting them every inch. Draw up a grid with lines 2 - 2.5cm apart and drill on each intersection. If the fish you keep won't fit through 10mm holes, Egg crate will be much easier. Just get 4 strips of the plastic edge that you see on many tank corners and use it to hold the egg grate in place. As for silicone, selleys window and glass will do the job. You can buy perspex from any plastics manufacturer out of the yellow pages. Another option is to cut large windows in a sheet of perspex and hot glue or silicone fibreglass flyscreen over the holes. You can cut the windows with a jigsaw, using a drilled hole for the starting points. Leave a "cross" in the middle of the sheet to ensure the flyscreen has plenty of space to attach to.
