Alex
I've been doing abit of poking around for some new bloodlines to add to Petenia splendida collection (breeding pair and a spare male) and have found that their is alot of colour variation between the different stock that we have available here. Their are only meant to be two distinct colour variations in this species; the normal 'speckled' ones and the 'red morph'. I have heard of the 'red morph' being available in Aus, but sure enough every time they turn out to be regular snook. Lungy had an interesting looking girl, that was normal colouration with a red belly? from memory. Here is a pic of my breeding boy (not in breeding colour in this pic) that has pink/orange shoulders - use this thread to share any pic you have of your own? or just to talk about the species. One of the truly underrated American species.... Alex
Devil
First off nice fish mate and i agree the snook are WAY underrated as a friendly awsome american i have owned many and had a few breeders also i looked for the red kind about a year ago with no luck same think i herd they were about but never seen one of them. Dont no about other kinds though but i agree your fish does seem to have a lot of red on his shoulders . Thanks. Tim.
pride
It seems snooks are popping up in more shops now. Even a store in Chatswood that usually deals mostly in small tropicals stocks them. I went on a bit of a browse at some different LFS around Sydney last week and I reckon about 5 of the 6 shops I went to had them. I would love to own a pair if only I had room for another tank
