distinguishing sexes

does anyone have or know of a way in which to tell the sexes of acei tanzania i have a colony of 8 fish i bought them and the guy said it was one m 6 fm but just wanted to see if there is a concrete way

males usually have some dark blue markings around the head and gill area and have larger, more pronounced egg spots. Females also have very pointed dorsal and anal fins which makes them harder to sex. but as mentioned above, the only cocrete way to tell is when the females breed. i hope you have plenty of tank space for fry because some of my 6-7 cm girls have about 50 fry each unsure.gif

Mbuna has thebest way short of breeding, the males get very light blue across the face when they colour up. they also tend to be quite a bit bigger. but generally they are extremely difficult to sex.
