In short, yes, I think you could. BUT I think you'd be better off with a trio or 1m:3f in a larger tank. Males can sometimes harass the females... so, as with chocolate, more is better.

the only succesful way i can think of breeding from a pair of fronts is to have 2 tanks, then when the female is holding move her to a tank by herself(like the old days) the problem leaving them together is that the male will continue to harass the female while shes holding and after she spits,by having 3or4 females the male wont be picking on the same fish all the time,malawis are far worse in this respect often harassing a female to death, in short buy yuorself 7or8 youngsters grow them to breeding size(18-24mths) pick the alpha male(hell make himself known at about 6 mths) and 3 females, then you can sell your spare 4 fish for the same or more money than you paid for the original 8- money for nothing and your fish for free(apoligies to dire straits) good luck thumb.gif
