Raw
Hi guys, I got a 2ft tank with baby hongies in it. The problem is that I have severe cloudy water in it. It seems to come around every 2 weeks or so and I have to always empty the whole tank before its all gone and after 2 weeks it comes back again. I do a regular water changes and use a water purifier when re fillling the tank. I am using PETS product that says eliminates cloudy water and it has some effect but not much. So what should I do guys??? Could it be the filter i am using as its just a ATMAN filter and I have had it for about a year and prior to it being in the 2ft it was working great. Or it might be where its located it gets regular sunlight and could this teh reason for the cloudy water? any help would be appreciated
Tam
have you cycled your tank yet? cloudy water can mean that your Beneficial bacterias are starting to forming / or messed up due to you changing water?
Nhan
if it's a new tank you are stuck with it for a while until the good bacteria kicks in. try putting some of the gravels from your other tanks that wuld help.
Guest african-au
if you are cleaning your filter at the same time your doing your water changes your disturbing your bacteria cycle which is why your water is cloudy! you must allow bacteria to cycle! try not changing water for a couple of weeks! make sure your tank is airated! cheers chris
YeW
Hi - I suspect you are overfeeding/overstocking the tank. Clouds can be caused as mentioned by bacterial (or sometimes protozoal blooms) - what are you feeding. How often? How much? How frequently do you change the water? How much? Cheers -
Gargamel
tanks are usually a bit cloudy even for the first 4 to 6 weeks until the bacteria kicks in? the fact that you are only leaving it for 2 weeks before you change all the water isnt helping, never change all the water, it just puts you back to square one. what are you feeding them? those aqua life pellets make the water cloudy, are you feeding them that. put carbon in your filter and just leave it for a few more weeks. MikeWs Fish
I had a cloudy BN tank/ IT probably went cloudy from lots of BN waste and a dead apple snail. I did quite a big water change, remved the dead apple snail and also added a heavy odse of 'cycle' - similar product to nitrovec which cultivates the good bacteria in the tank. After 24hrs, the water has gone clear. Mike W
