YeW
Hi Alex - I've never kept halfbeaks but they have a reputation as being tricky. Some are brackish water species (so these wouldnt mix well with dwarfs) though some are apparently softwater species. Some also give birth to live young . Sound like cool fish - but make sure you do your research. Do you have any particular species in mind??
Canberra Alex
Yes i like Dermogenys pusillus because it is a livebearer and they are small i have done alot research but cant find any one in Aust. with experiance with them. i think ill take the plunge and let everyone know how i go Thanks
AndrewP
I have kept them in a community tank. Did not breed though. They like the top of the aquarium and need plants on and near the surface. They jump out really easily. AndrewP
E4G13M4N
They can be tricky at times not under the easy fish to keep classification. As already stated the more floating plants around the better. I know of someone that keeps them in his frontosa pond, a few have jumped but they are breeding well from what i hear. The floating plant he uses i can never remember the name as its as long as the alphabet
