chrisandelana
Hi all, Just wanted to know if anyone else has experienced this before. Recently set up a Standard 5 footer with overflow and sump. Bought some foam for the top layer of the sump from Clarke Rubber and after 5 weeks it has disolved and turned into powder. I am using the same foam on another tank in the same fashion and it is in good condition. The main difference between the two tanks is that the disolved foam is on a Tang tank with PH 8.5, GH 17dGH and KH 10. The undisolved foam is a CA tank with PH 7.3, GH 9dGH and KH 7. Any suggestions or explainations welcomed. PS. he foam is the coarse, dark grey type, approx. 15mm thick. Regards, Chris

BaZ
Clark Rubber sell lots of different types of foam/sponge stuff. One of these is a product they call 'Pond Filter' which comes in 2 thicknesses (20mm and 50mm i think from memory). I have used this for a while now, and have some pieces which are over 4 yrs old now with no sign of breaking down. I suspect you may have bought the wrong stuff? chrisandelana
Thanks everyone, I was hoping I had bought the wrong stuff. I will try again and ask for the "Pond" type. Chris
