Shell
I am setting up a new 2x2x2 foot tank and want to put an external filter on it that is reliable and very quiet to run. I noticed the Pegaso 3 filter on AoA. has anyone tried one and what did you think? Otherwise I was going to go with the Fluval 304.
rosco
Hi michelle, I not not used the Pegaso 3 filter but I use a fluval 304 on one of my standard 4' tanks and it is great. it will be fine for that tank size as it has about the same amount of water. BTW. Are seriously hooked on cichlids\fish now or what?
Shell
Yeah Rosco, my next Aquaholics Anonymous meeting is this week. I ordered the Fluval 304. Plus I also got a UV steriliser to go on it. I think I have a serious problem....
mickvick
I bought 2 pegaso 3's and returned them the next day. They were both faulty and leaked around the o-ring- left me with many litres of water on the floor- not fun at all. They are more difficult to prime and the quantity of hosing is inadequate so you have to count on buying some more hosing, there is no filter media, aside from two sponges and the locking mechanism appears to be pretty flimsy. IMO I would not touch one if I were you. On the other hand i have 3 Fluval 404's (two of which were the replacements for the Pegaso's), and have no problems whatsoever (I've had one for a bit over a year an the other two just under 1 year). Good filter, priming is pretty easy, adequate hosing and plenty of media. Similar price yet not even close on quality Michael
