Step breeding

OK, so we all know this is the way Tangs do things in their shells and what-not. But how about Americans? Has anybody ever witnessed this behaviour? I would have scoffed at the thought a few days ago but I currently have about 50 6-10mm GT fry living in the pit beside the rock which is covered in around 300 eggs. The parents aren't worried by the fry, and leave the eggs unattended to attack my hand, or their own reflection. The fry don't seem interested in eating the eggs at all. By the look of the eggs they will hatch this afternoon/overnight. Time will tell if my Green Terrors have learnt something from my multifasciatus, or if the older fry just want a moving target woot.gif

Hmmm a bit shocked to find this post moved but ok huh.gif

The eggs have now hatched and mum has herded the larger fry out of the nest. Although none seem to have disappeared (Not that I count them LOL.gif ) The older fry seem to be living with dad now on the other side of the tank.
