rosco
Hi all, I am still in the process of setting up my fish room (hopefully it will be finished soon ) and I am now deciding what type of air system I am going to get. I am either going to get an air pump like the LP40 or LP60 or an electromagnetic air compressor like the AC0-007. I am leaning towards the air compressor but I was just after peoples opinions and experiences (good and/or bad) with both of these systems. TIA Cheers Rosco BTW I will be running 9-12 2x18x18 tanks initially at the minimum but this may grow. (and probably will )
Bit Racer
I recommend getting the high volume air pump. I've got an aco electro magnetic air compressor and now have it as a backup because it was way too noisy, ran extremely hot and vibrated so much that I needed cable ties to hold it down. chorrylan
hmmm inneresting.... I've had exactly the reverse scenario. Ran an LP40 for some time until it overheated and got really noisy so switched to an ACO compressor unit.
Matthew
G'day Air compressor, uses less wattage and not as noisy. Do not consider anything below a LP60. The LP40 has had some problems I hear (just some parts require more frequent replacement). Ben (Age of Aquariums) also now has the LP100! Personally I use these ones. My choice But be warned they are expensivce to purchse, but very reliable and quiet. I would not buy a blower as they do not put out the required pressure and they are often noisy and chew lots of power.
Stuart74
The LP40 has had some problems I hear (just some parts require more frequent replacement). Hi Matthew, What parts require the frequent replacement as i have the LP40 and its been excellent so far and never misses a beat mind you i don't push the pump to its limits either Cheers Stuart
Ducksta
My guess would be diaphragms and flap valves. This is what Nigel replaced for me in my cranky old LP60 and she is good as new
Matthew
Yep Ducksta is spot on, that is excactly what goes on them, so I hear.
