Gav
at the wollongong auction they had some large fish sold in plastic buckets. the fish seemed to do fine, and generally they were sold early. if you can bring him along in a container that will both fit him and you are prepared to part with, we can easily sell him. considering his size I am sure we would make an effort to get him sold quite early on in the day, well at least I will keep an eye out for any large fish in buckets to move em early
Chester
I thought the rule was that you couldn't use buckets at the major auction? Maybe the rule has changed.
Gav
at least 5 went through at the wollongong auction so I think its a matter of sensibility prevailing. if someone brings a 14 inch pleco in a bucket its unlikely to be refused, where as a bucket full of guppies is likely going to be. I am sure common sense will prevail still a committee member is the best one to answer, heck I only sell the stuff
Nigel
If thay wont let you take it in a bucket you can bring it to my place and i will bag it in large bags and put oxygen in for you. Just bring it on the way to the auction it wont take long to do.
Cichlids_au
This is from the rles 29. Due to their special needs large fish are not to be placed in buckets but should be double bagged in suitable large bags. These are available from the trade table at regular meetings. BlakeyBoyR
Nigel very generously seems to be willing to help you out, maybe you should PM him and take him up on his offer? That way, you could transport him to Nigel's in a bucket, bag him there, and move on to the auction after. That way everybody wins (well ... I dont know how Nigel wins other than getting a pack on the back for being such a top bloke )
Chester
If I were you I would sell the catfish privately ( in the classifieds on this forum ). It would be a very stressful 12 hours for it if you put it in a bag and sold it at the auction. And even if it was the first lot to be sold there is no gaurantee that the new owner will rush home and put it in his tank. It could end up sitting on the floor in someones styrofoam box waiting for them to leave.
ViS
You'd probably get a better price here in the classifieds as well Chuck $10 or $20 on top of what you were planning to reserve him at and see how it goes.
Chester
Or ask for permission and in the circumstances the admin team might give you permission to have an auction in the classifieds for your catfish.

Chester
Look at the Conditions Of Classified Use. It tells you there who you should contact.
