Matthew
G'day Here is the link to the "Baz Rack" that exists on the Sydney Cichlid. Baz Rack I highly recommend these racks, I also built one after this one was built by Baz.
BaZ
Thanks Matt Matt was my able assistant and photographer while I built that rack for the article. Like he says he has one which I built, and has also gone on to build one himself. YeW has one also, and I use a couple here at my place. They are strong, cheap, and easy to make. Give it a go Daniel
YeW
I also use the BaZ Rack (complete with essential pyramids, for karma and fish lust). Mine was built by the designer of the BaZ rack himself, so I have an original - but it holds 12 2' tanks on three 4' long shelves. I love it and cannot recommend the design enough. Burek
Ok.. thanks for that, looks quite good! What was the total cost BaZ? and also you have any more pics of it because i cant really see what the middle and top base of the stand look like? is it like the bottom? might print this page and then get the teachers to help me make it at school in yr 12! BaZ
Hi Daniel Check out the pic at the top of that page, and also number 12. The middle and top levels are different to the bottom. They consist of a beam running along under the front and the back of the tank, and also one running right through the middle to stop the base falling out of the tank. I guess you could make those levels the same as the bottom if you like, but I find this way much easier and cheaper. Total cost I think was around $100 including timber, screws and glue. Paulochromis
I remember Kevin Sorensen mentioning a useful addition to the rack design, namely nylon feet. I think he said he cut up a nylon cutting board into squares/rectangles and sticking them to the undersides of the uprights. That way, the wood doesn't get wet when the inevitable spills occur.
