I have a large 6x2x2 foot community planted tank. I was going to get 6 clown loaches but a mate of mine said that clown loaches will destroy plants. What do you guys think? If so is it only when they get large? How will clowns go with smaller tetras? Thanks in advance Greg

Hi guys, I have a heap of bush rock sandstone that I have been finding in my backyard. I have been using it as garden edging. There is some really nice looking rocks there. Are these ok for use in an aquarium? Are there any types of sandstone that you should keep away from. Does it alter water chemistry in any way eg ph etc Thanks Greg

Hey guys, Im just getting back into fish from my absence for the last 3-4 years. I used to go to the Sydney cichlid forum very regularly. What happen to the forum I cant seem to find it anymore. thanks Greg

Yes Punie I do keep the plants in with my Turtles. The turtles seem to leave them alone. They more tend to sleep in the larger Anubis plants that are in the tank, rather than eat them. Mbuna I noticed you are in Hornsby as well. What hardware store did you see the Grolux globes & where they the energy saving type. I guess Ill give it a go & see what happens. Hopefully 2 edison screw globes & 1 fluro across the tank will be enough for healthy plant growth. It just would be a shame to not use the 2 edison light fittings that are there. Any other suggestions greatly appriciated

I have 3 lights with edison screw type fittings hung from the ceiling over one of my tanks which houses turtles. I use 1 UV globe over the turtles basking spot with the edison screw fitting. I am wondering if there is a particular globe that I could use for growing Anubis & Java Fern plants in the 2 remaining edison fittings? (I also have room for a 6ft fluro as well so I was going to get an aqurium aquaglo/powerglo tube for that.) Bunnings hardware I saw edison fitting energy saving globes for sale which are Natural 5000k lumen. The brand is Nelson. I am unsure of the watts but they

Has anyone seen the red bellied variant in Australia. Also if anyone has more info on this it would be great to hear if anyone knows for sure
-
Are there different types of Salvinis available? I have seen many pics of Salvini in books & on the net & most have a red belly. Whereas all the ones I have seen in Sydney dont have that great red belly. Any info would be great

What is the best types of foods or mix of foods to feed a small Giant Gourami (around 6cms) to get it to grow as fast & big as possible as possible. Also how fast should its growth rate be?

Someone told me that there are Golds available now is that true(not pink but gold). He also told me that there are Blue body Red fin ones as well. Is there truth to that?

Ok thanks for that guys. I will add a bit more water & see what happens. I dont know what Im going to do with my Aquaclear 500 as I have to keep my water level low as one of the fish hits it head on the glass when it dives to the surface & has caused a nasty wound.

They are all less than a year old. I have Aquaclear 500, 200 & Mini. They all seem to do it. I find them to be a great filter apart from them running dry on blackouts
-
I have a few Aquaclear filters running on various tanks. If there is a power outage/blackout the water drains out of the filter when there is no power. When the power returns there is no water left in the filter. The filters start up again but there is no water in them & they dont automatically fill up with water again. I had a blackout last week & this happened & I was lucky I was still awake at 1am to sort it out. My question is, is there some sort of modification that can be done to fix this problem. Is this common with all Hang on Back filters?

Other than the standard grey & pink Giant Gouramis, do they come in any different colours. Any help greatly appriciated.
