Swimming Upside Down

I have an awesome male “white lips” which is one of my favourite fish.  He was doing great, and then I woke up about 4 days ago and found him swimming upside down.  All other fish in the tank are doing great, and the water parameters  are all fine (ph 7.8, Ammonia 0, Nitrite 0, Nitrate 40).  I did a big water change and have also treated the tank with metro.  He is still moving and very active, but just swimming upside down......I am not sure what else to do.  I thought I would leave him for a few days and see whether he gets better.  I assume it is his swim bladder.....should I put him out of his misery or give him a few more days?

Tough one to deal with

I would think swim bladder as well, probably from a fight or something. To be honest i have never had a fish come back from it

But in saying that i would give him as long as you can, separate in hospital tank and add salt, feed shelled peas if he eats just in case it is caused by constipation

You might be lucky, keep us posted

Cheers

Yeah I agree, I dont think I've had a fish come back from that before, unfortunately.

Is it still eating? If so, I'd probably keep him going (My thinking is that he cant be in too much distress if he is still eating - though I'm no expert)
