Mine are in tubs.

Yeah you don't see as many youngsters around,,,, the market floods easy with these.

Every second or third person I sell rays to say they have bass.

There are always those that are dedicated to keeping these great fish who don't bother with growing out and selling fry.

I have 4 growing out.
They are probably about 18cm and literally overnight 3/4 of them started refusing dry foods a few weeks back.
They've not have live food since I've had them so it's not like they "knew"
(Up til now I was wondering what all the fuss was about.)

I tried to starve them in to eating again. But they lose condition super quickly.
Ended up caving and buying some basa fillets (cheap, white, not oily) to stop them wasting away.
I am paranoid about using it though, because I'm wondering if one survivor who eats pellets is better than 4 who will only eat fresh foods...

I fed mine on pellets until that size, but then I had to switch to pilchards because I found they lost too much weight also.

They're such messy eaters as well. I found having a pleco helped: funnily enough, he also grew huge.

How much were these selling for?

Pilchards hey... Might have to start buying bulk white bait or something...
If it's going to be long term I guess better off with whole fish than just white fillet.

Yeah. I used to buy the frozen bags of them from bait shops. They're a cheap option and they fatten the bass up something fierce.

Mono Peaock Bass are common as anything, its azul, kelberi, temensis and orino that are rare. juvies go for about 500 bucks as opposed to 15 bucks for juvie mono.

Jas if you want some Mono's pm Kev he has some @ 6cm size

Thanks, Chris, but I don't have a tank. I don't think I'd keep them again even if I did. Too much upkeep.

If i ever get back into fish, I think I'll get something that eats pellets.

You can never get tired of watching these.

They were cool fish, Ged. It's funny. I was reluctant to take them, but they turned into one of my favs.

Yeah I wish I had a spare tank to try these guys though I'm not sure I could be bothered finding live food to feed my fish. I already cook my dogs dinner every night....dont want to include my fish on any fussy special diets as well!! I'll just drool on yours Alex in appreciation :p

I got 3 x pbass about 4 years old now maybe five..

The only thing they eat is 6mm pellets. Marine gold high protein.

Throw in fish, whitebait, or anything alike,,, they have no idea what it is and it just sinks past them.

They suck n snap the surface the second the 6mm pellet hits the water.

Once you get them on pellets,,,, never ever give them any natural raw material or they will slowly turn to the spoiling.

This is if you want them on pellets that is.......

Mine will never see live food in their lives. eating chopped white bait and some pellets at the minute. Good to get them eating everything early.

9/10 of my bass now taking floating pellets greedily. I'm sure the last one will come around pretty quick once it realises their no whitebait in the immediate future.

Great to hear that they have made the transition to pellets. The last one will quickly learn once it realises it is the only one missing out.
