Huyey
Hi, just set up my standard 6foot tank but had trouble getting my water to level. Its on a stand thats a five tier rack (from bunnings) and has been converted to fit my 6 foot. The problem is, the stand is in my garage where I found out later that the ground was slightly sloping. I did not notice that my water was not level until I completed filling it up with water. Now one side of the water in my tank is about an inch higher than the other side. Can I keep it this way?Cheers, :o Huy
E4G13M4N
I would start again and level the rack, as it all depends on the how strong the structure is 6' is a lot of weight in water.. There is that possibility of tilting further and tank finishing on the floor :o
Huyey
The rack is heavy duty and can hold 350kg on each level and when I converted it to fit the 6' tank, I should be able to hold 700kg all up. The tank holds approx 350lt. Is this sufficient?
Link2Hell
I suggest you either A. pack it under the legs with fibro/hardiboard or similar till you get it levelorB. form up a level concrete platform for the stand to sit onL2H
Lurker
Level that tank up a.s.a.pThe only tanks that have ever broken on me were two three footers on an uneven stand. One inch difference is a huge slant.
Willy Wombat
I moved my 4*2*2 on the weekend and have noticed that the floor i have it on has about a 1 inch a tilt - :o i plan to level it before i fill it up with water. Also - it is on fairly weak floor boards so i am going to get a piece of wood to put under the tank to spread the load from just the 6 legs on the stand to the entire floor. Does anyone have any comments on this? Cheers WW
Exiledonmainstreet
It's also a bad thing to have an unbalanced tank, due to the increased strain placed on the one side, due to the different water levels. Definitely empty the tank, and start again. It will save you alot of headaches in the long run.
Huyey
Thanks everyone for your help. I was just worried it may crack and topple over.I am emptying my tank now and will put some hardiboards under the legs. That tank is mighty heavy to lift... just thinking of my back : : Cheers,Huy
Bit Racer
I'd be a bit concerned with the stand itself particulary if you're planning to put gravel and rocks in it, it'll exceed the 350kg load per shelf. Personally, I would stick to a well built wooden stand or go for the ligh weight dexion pallet racking.
