Lucifer
Heres the story: About 5 months ago I put a deposit for my Aro. At the time it looked perfect condition. I had to go on holiday so I couldn’t pick up that week. When picked my aro up, he had one short whisker. The seller said that he jumped and the whisker broke. It will grow back in a 2 or 3 weeks. I trusted him and paid for it and took it home. Now about 4 months later, my aro still has one short whisker. There is no sign of it grow back. Still the same length as the time I 1st took it home. Now my question: Is the whisker going to growing back? Was the seller telling a lie? Did I just get ripped off?
Mango4Jade
Im not an experience keeper of aros...but I know from my dad's experience is that if its an adult or old fish...it maynot grow back. But, correct me if im wrong.
fishlover
Good day. Aro is the very sensitive fish. sometime they saw the flying insect, they will jump and trying eat the insect. Maybe that's why the aro damage his whisker. Also,I think your aro seems still in youth period. so I think his whiskers can be recovered. I checked some web site as below: Should the whiskers be broken or damaged, the recovery period varies according to the age of the Dragon Fish. Normally a young Dragon Fish recovers faster than an older Dragon Fish. In my Suggestion, you could cut one of his whiskers to same as other whisker. then the aro whiskers could be same length. Are u for real??? Your left ear looks a little lop sided to your right just come over here and il chop it off a bit, then they can be the same length. Would you really ever consider putting a fish through that sort of pain simply for ur pleasure of viewing the fish??? Cheers Andy

Your left hairs looks very long to your right hairs. will you get your left hairs cut to same as right hairs? Also, in this case, the aro owner want his arowana had same whiskers length. I just suggest that. (I am not to recommend/push him)

fishlover
If the barbels damage is not severe, the barbels will usually grow back, but the recovery time depends on the aro age and condition of the fish. The usual recovery period is few months or above. try this link: arowana barbels
