Ducksta
You think people buy pacu because silver dollars eat plants? Pacu eat plants, and small tankmates, and break glass. I think what it comes down to is consumers knowing what they are buying before they buy it. If somebody wants to buy a fish that they think looks good and has a catchy common name, without any knowledge of the fish or even knowing a scientific name so real research can be done, then this fault lies solely with the consumer. If 'we' were smarter consumers, nobody would have a reason to feel duped

Dark Morelia
I have......1x male trimac 18cm (killed his female on sunday)1x 15cm female festae1x 10cm possible female festae1x 4cm festae gender UK. soon to have male to pair with larger female1x male brasiliensis 20cm When i was working at the local pet shop, a prominent wholesaler had those "Pacu" listed on special as "Red-bellied Pacu, (Metynnis spp.)" And growing to around 8-9cm, as they reckon their breeding stock is a dwarf strain rather than 15cm monsters (haha) So that's what most shops will sell them as, contradictory as it is.
