I have one and it works very well. Moves HEAPS of water and has lots of rrom for filter material. Only critisism is the taps are somewhere between bad and awful. I have to leave a bucket under the taps when I clean the filter, which is about half full by the time I've cleaned the filter. Maybe I was unlucky, so I'm not suggesting all of them would be like that. Other than that, The filter itself is fantastic!

I only suggested Parra as it is pretty much the center (geographically, anyway) of Sydney. Just figured it would be the best and fairest option for everyone.

If we are forced to move, it might be an idea to move to somewhere a bit more central to Sydney. Somewhere like Parramatta would be much better for the people who have to travel all the way from the northern end of Sydney.

Auburn Aquariums had something similar, it was round, and tapered towards the bottom, but otherwise fairly simliar. They had goldfish in it. Mihgt be worth giving them a call

The blue flouro's are called actinic globes. They are mainly used in Marine aquariums, as they penetrate much deeper into the water than daylight globes (like the tropical sun for reef fish). I use 2 x 2 foot actinics on my 5x2x2 display tank (along with 2 x 4foot and 2 x2foot daylights) They bring out the blue in fish and also can be used to simulate twilight. They will also make fish with "glowing spots" like red forest jewels stand out. The fish don't care at all what color the light is. I have never seen them for sale at a hardware store (they are pretty specialised). They make the water look deep, but they arn't really bright enough to have as your only lights. HTH :

Try Congo tetras Can grow quite big (relative to other tetras), look fantastic, and are very peaceful. Highly recommended :^:

Great Pics! : What is the rock on the far left in the first pic?

Lam's at Parramatta is pretty good. they are just near the corner of church street, on Victoria road. EDIT>> LOL beat me to it Yew If you go to the place on Harris street, be aware they they only accept cash. No credit card or EFTPOS or anything else.....

The FDA is only about consumable food and drugs, so they don't care about fisheries or wildlife or anything like that. All they are saying is that "they" are not going to get involved.

Yeah definately, by hobby/cruelty I meant and/or, so I could probably have worded that better : While I do think that it is pretty amazing (and kinda cool) to be able to do that kind of thing to an animal, I still don't believe in it.
-
That's dissapointing. :o Though the governenment of calfornia has banned them for a different reason. So at least some peole realise what a huge problem it is. As far as the food and drugs association goes, they aren't different. It's only from a hobby/cruelty pont of view that there is an actual problem. Will be very interesting to see how this develops over the next few months

If you want a BIG fish that is not gonna eat your other community fish, go for a gibbiceps or a common pleco. They'll grow to 60cm (in a big enough aquarium) and look very cool. Plus they keep the tank clean, and won't eat your plants. :^:

Soak it for a week or so in hot water, changing the water once it goes brown (every one to two days). After a week or so, boil it for an hour or so, then soak it again to see how much brown is leeching out. If it's still leeching badly.... start from the top enjoy
