Hi guys,, haven't used the forum for a while as work is getting in the way of my fish keeping.. Look I've got a 8x2x2 running fx6 and 3 large sponge filters, I've git s colony of furcifer x 9 adults, 2 black calvus, 2 white calvus and a lone xenotalapia makola and a lone male mpimbwe frontosa. I had them all individually breeding successfully at one point or another. That's changed and they have all been thrown together. I'm having some issues with a bright green algae and wondering if I should throw in a small group of trophs?? Need abit of colour in there also?? Male furcifers get colour after water changes and still get the odd mouthful but I just leave them. Any suggestions on what to put in there and will the trophs eat the bright green algae ?? I don't want any catfish in there or anything... Thanks.. Thoughts will be appreciated!!!

Algae is normally an issue with light and tank placement. If you can cut down the light then you will have less algae.

Tropheus will eat algae happily but they wont rasp off the algae like a catfish such as a BN will off the glass.

If you are adament that you dont want a couple of bristlenose in there then maybe you could pop in a dozen (or 2) of some golden apple snails. they will eat algae but its not their favorite food and I'm not to sure how effective these snails are in large tanks.

If you are concerned about your calvus spawning etc with bristlenose then all I can say is I've never had any issue. Calvus are good parents and normally block their cave (shell) even when asleep.
