Robrob
Hi Everyone,Im newly back into my aquariums after a long break. I have read a couple of things relating to aquarium salt and whether it should be added or not.I have just set up a 6x2x2 tank for Trimacs (also have a 4ft tank of guppys) and would like to hear your opinion on aquarium salt whether its needed or not and if so at what dosage and should it be dissolved before being added or just added to the aquarium as is?Looking forward to your replies.ThanksRob
myster619
Not necessary for your trimacs. I would like to see your trimacs though.
Josh
I find its a personal choice. I use it for all my tanks but it can get expensive.
Robrob
Thanks guys. I also have a 4ft tank of Guppy's and I noticed a few of them flicking their bodies on the gravel, since putting the salt in they have stopped doing it.Myster619, I was going to upload a pic for you but I have no idea how I do that on here, I was able to put it as my profile pic but not sure you can see it too well. Chuckmeister
most domestically bred fish dont need salt. Most are bred in plain water. The right substrate can buffer the water somewhat. You can also add coral shell into the filter to buffer your water too.I used to ad buffers into everything but these days I may buffer tang water a little...maybe.. (definately substrate and filter though)Chuck
