I would like some help Identifying this Male peacock. He is around 10+cm. I got him from Marble peacock tank of "All about Fish!" from Newcastle. His color looks like as electric blue. Thanks in advance.

hi

first thing u don't get peacock off a store they put them all in the same tank

were u can pick the males out and say this one is this and that is that

but try doing it with the females they all look a like

o there is only one store that I will get peacocks off

and all about fish is not that one I have been there

Labyrinth Aquarium is the only store I would get peacock off he know what he is doing

if u want true peacocks u get them off a breeder that u know

or know off form fish lovers that way u know u are getting true ones

I know exactly what this is,,,,, especially from the info you have given.

Marble pccks and dragon blood pccks are creations.

Locational varient alounocara have been mixed to produce the two.

So,,,, when breeding drgn bld pcck and Mble pcck you will roughly have a outcome of 10% - 20% throwbacks (being original lines used for creation coming back out as pure LOOKING).

Drgn blds will throw solid blue pccks.

While Mble pccks and some fire fish will throw blue pccks with a red to orange band around the shoulder.

So what you have is a hybrid equivalent to a Mble pcck that is part of the Mble pcck fry batch.

Genetics,,,,, mysterious to some, not so much to others. :)

I agree with Ducksta on this. If you cant ID a peacock then you may as well just call it a pretty fish in your tank.

If you ever want to ID a fish then you are MUCH better taking a photo of the fish in the tank in a relaxed state so we can get a better look at the fish (colours and shape). Any fish out of the tank is gonna be hard to ID.

I have kept Kandees before (aulonocara kandeensis) that are electric blue type of peacock but in this case I wouldn't ID your fish anything other than 'fish'

I'd hate to see Kandee's get a bad ID rap from hybrids unnecessarily if they are legit.
