Good to know. It will run 3 sponge filters for fry tanks, 4 egg tumblers, two brine shrimp hatchery.

Should I get the lp20 or lp40?

Lp40 seems to be better value but the output and wattage will be too much I am afraid.

There are better pumps out there, but the coat a whole lot more.

I use hi-blow pumps but they would probably set you back around $400 for a 40lpm pump. My 40 will run 12 tanks with side drop filters, sponge filters and egg tumblers. All up around 40 airstones, but it's on its limit.

The resun's are good value for money. If you only have a few airstones/filters the 20 is probably enough. You could get the larger pump and just bleed off air.

I just downsized to my old lp60 with new diaphrams and it is still dead quiet. it is only running 12 large sponge filters and a few air stones. The 19mm tubing is still all over my 6mx3m room and the is no loss of pressure compared to when it tan a room half of its size. This was my first pump I bought 6 or so years ago and only stopped using it because I doubled the size of the room. I bought a set of new diaphrams and replaced them on the weekend and it works like new. So they are reliable and not bad value for money.

If you buy one that is to big you will have to run bleeders otherwise it can cause back pressure on the pump. Bleeders can be noisy as well. I would go for an lp 40 based on those requirements but not much more.

Cheers
