Buccal
Breed fairly easily in most water types.Very Big tank needed.Nasty.They are importable so should be easy enough to get if not around to begin with.
Link2Hell
Buccalagree with your first three points but .............pretty sure they are NOT an allowable import I'm guessing you mean not listed as noxiousso allowed to be kepttheir classification is Heterotilapia buttikoferihardest thing is finding enough to find a pairseem to be the odd male around when theycome up for sale but females are hard to find
malrift
These are noxious in Queensland as are all forms of tilapia. We had someone recent caught by dpi selling tilapi even though the fine was a slap on the wrist its not worth being caught.
Kane77
Ive been searching for these guys for a few years now after losing mine after 15+ years Awesome fish..not as aggressive as people make out They are not on the noxious list but it seems people have stopped bringing these guys in anymore due to the fact they are aggressiveLabyrinth has a big monster of one in their display tank If you find some or want to import any let me know as i wanna grab some too
sorroz
Hi .. Just because they are not on the noxious list does not mean they are importable. To be a legal import they actually need to be on the allowable import list...which is a completely different list.Kevin
myster619
I saw a pair at Labyrinth but like all other pairs they are in a big crowded community tank so not much hope of them breeding there.

Buccal
This part in the noxious list shows buttikoferi excluded from noxious list.I may have seen this a while back and as a vague thought thinking it was importable,,, but it's only excluded from noxious list and thats all.Below a snippet from the noxious list :Tilapia spp. (all except T. buttikoferi)Tilapia (Various)Any area of the StateTinca tincaTenchAny area of the State

Buccal
If your referring to me sorroz, I knew that it's only fish on the "white list ", that is allowable for import into Australia. If you read my words carefully,, I actually thought they were white listed.I've actually spoken to the second highest level man in the fisheries department in person,,, as much as we hate some of these laws,,,,These people in management are pretty good to speak to,,,,, took me ages to get into contact with upper management as its amazing how many people throughout the department didnt have much of a clue at the time.We ended up talking for over a hour and got along exceptionally well,,, actually, when I think back, maybe my point of view on silver arro helped to make them be tolerated to some degree,,, as I mentioned that there were plenty around oz already,,, they tend to go easy on what's already saturated through out Australia. At the time many years ago, I was gearing up for over 30 adult adult stingray breeding program.I didn't tell them that I was doing this many lol,,, but I was concerned about them making rays noxious just after I'd set up.The fisheries at the time said it was only the marble rays being blacklisted, and these aren't avaliable anyway. No need to school me mate,, I've known all this for a very long time, a lot longer than most. Bit of a topic change here I know.
