luis
I have a batch of saulosi that have been spat after 4 weeks of holding. When will they be able to eat something like NLS grow? I dropped some in the other day and they weren't really interested...There is a coral rock in there from my main tank, I guess there would be a few microorganisms on that? Foti
Freshly hatched baby brine shrine usually entices fry to eat all that wiggling and bouncing around Try not to over feed in general they will find food and eat Congrats on the fry
krellious
Mine get microworms and sera flora flakes. They happily eat both
Chuckmeister
other than live food, I used to crush my spectrum fine as I needed it.Pepper grinders can often adjust the size of the grind too and as Krel said flake also as they can pick it to pieces when its soft. krellious
And always have a bn or 2 in the fry tank/saver to pick up the left over food
luis
Thanks everyone. Looks like they are starting to take the NLS even though it's too large to swallow in one go lol.

luis
I had 2 fry stuck to the filter intake after returning from holidays and 1 more death the day after. Not sure exactly why, probably lack of water changes during my absence.
Chuckmeister
How is your fry tank filtered? How big were the fish when they died?
luis
Good question, the filter on this tank (really a hospital/QT tank as I don't normally keep fry) is not really the most adequate for the job. It's a small canister (Eden 501) and I've stuck a coarse sponge over the strainer to keep the fry from getting too close.I considered getting a sponge filter but the advantage of this setup is that I can borrow bio media from my big canister and have an instantly cycled QT. Fry were old so 0.8 to 1cm I would say, I think they can swim alright. I've seen a few hide under the sponge recently with no problems but the weaker fish might find it more challenging, possibly.I think it's likely the smaller fish didn't manage to get at the food as they are also more shy and the food takes a while to sink. LexyBoi
Might have been malnourished, I lost about 10-20 fry from that and another 10-20 because of a crappy heater, which froze most of the guys, down now to 12 [emoji52]
