kingtiger
To the post above, have you ever owned L204 and kept with Cichlid? If the answer is No than check the below profile. The suitable Ph ranges are 6.6 to 8.6 and I have kept them with Tropheus (F1) with no issue as long as you keep stable Ph for both species and bit of draftwood for the catfish. You are obivously know nothing about catfish and this is not a passing comment, this is factual with photos to proof.3 x L204 grown from 3 to 5cm along with cichlid with no issue.http://www.planetcatfish.com/common/species.php?species_id=

Ducksta
What are the fish in the background there? They look like Geos, not Trophs?
kingtiger
Yes ducksta, when I sold my ilangi colony I've replaced them with Geo Orange head. Transition is about few weeks but to keep the long story short these L's will thrive in high Ph. Also anyone ask about diet, I only feed all my fishes NFS Thera A, even my L46 no exception. mac
I never said anything about the high ph levels that L204 could or could'nt be kept in, and L204 max high ph is 8.4 not 8.6My issue is with keeping the with african cichilds like mbuna and tropheus with L's they will eventually mame or kill them when they mature.I guess that's why you keep them with geo's now.The advice to a new fish keeper to put L204 with their african cichlids. Some one who has no obvious experience keeping catfish is a bit rich what you got a spare male to unload ?As for my fish list why would I tell you? ha haCheers Mac

dempsey
I wouldnt keep a group of this type of pleco in tropheus conditions.Ok, ph isnt too bad, but what about KH and GH.Ok they could live in it, but why try to force something thats not natural.?Tropheus: High, ph, high GH, rocks, heavy water.. = LOVE IT!.Pleco: mid to high ph, prefering the mid, say 7-8 really, with wood, and rocks, wood lowers the types of conditions Trophs prefer to live in.So, why use wood in troph species tank? seems odd.But this person is looking for a single pleco to keep amongst other fish for display ,, very different for that I could suggest a three beacon Pleco.. L091.They can look awesome, I know theres a few around, I used to keep one in my WC Moba tank Always very active..Or find a nice Royal Pleco... awesome pleco for keeping as a single species too.Have you had any luck choosing one yet ?Picture of mine from back in the day ;-)
