Which man, exactly?
If you stop chlorinating a pool - it doesn't take long for mosquito wrigglers to start showing up, and all manner of other bugs larvae.
Same can be achieved with a bucket left outside.

Thanks Duck!

Somehow, I've always thought Daphnia is greenish and a lot smaller.

It's cool to have something like that in your backyard.

Daphnia's colour more comes from what they have been eating, i.e. free floating green algae then they will be green/ish, if they ate something that was more brown or red, then they would be that colour. Daphnia are pretty much just nutrient-free sacks of water. Their nutrition comes from what's in their stomach when THEY are eaten. That's why, dependant on how long after purchased frozen daphnia were frozen, will dictate if they have any nutritional benefits to feed to your fish. The upside to this is if you "grow your own", you can gut load them with different foods to get that to your fish. What that additionally means, is if you make a medical solution for your home grown daphnia to swim around it for a bit (an hour?), then you can gut load your daphnia to internally dose a fish that you wish to make sure it takes its medicine...assuming that it is still eating.
