bn fan
Hi all im currently running a 4500lph pump on my sump. So the question i have is i want to upgrade it to something stronger the sump is a standard 3ft tank and the fish tank is a 6x2x2. Would a 10000lph be way to strong for this size tank/sump setup?Cheers adam
Stepod72
I think what you have already is ample enough for a 6 x 2 x 2. If you upgrade to what your after you will be turning the water over to much. Usually 3 x the tank volume an hour is standard.

Stepod72
How often do you do your water changes and how much?Do you do a substrate clean every couple of weeks?
bn fan
I do small water changes about 2 to 3 times a week. I dont have substrate so im always vacuming the poop/food on the bottom of the tank.
Buccal
4000 liter wave maker increase turnover in tank alone.Might have to play around with mechanical filtration to improve particle colloection.Like stepod said roughly 3 x tank to filter rate,,, go to much higher you lose contact Time for beneficial bacteria to do its work.Besides,,, the outlets on your tank probably wouldn't be able to expell 10000 liters hour fast enough causing tank to overflow. bn fan
Okay cheers maybe thats another option add a wave maker to the tank. And add some more filtration too.
