Chuckmeister
Was contemplating a water change today and thought I'd make a quick video of the siphon I use to change my water. Most of you long timers know about these or varients of them but thought it would be handy for new people as it makes a huge difference to how easy water changes can be, especially if you have more than one tank. simy696
nice video ive set up hose attachment direct to gravel cleaner to water the garden you may want to add a dual check valve to the tap or water source to keep your local water provider happy and to stop fish water entering there system. luis
Nice vid, Chuckmeister. My weekly maintenance routine became 10x easier when I went from buckets to water changer and I've only a 3" tank.Living in a unit I don't have the luxury of being able to leave hoses about so I put together a more compact version of the above. The heart of this is the Aqueon control valve (on the right) that connects to a tap and allows me to either prime the siphon (lever in vertical position and tap open drains water out the bottom and air/water is sucked from the tube facing left) or fill the tank up (lever horizontal, tap water goes out the left into tank). I also use the hose as a gravel vac while I am draining. At the end of the day this gets rolled up and stored in the cabinet under the tank. Here it is in action earlier today. If any bucket fans are reading this I hope they get some inspiration from our setups to move on to hoses.
