tropifish
Hi All,So I've left my Juwel Vision 260 tank running without lights for months now (thinking the 2x tubes have reached its time). Recently purchased 2 replacement light tubes (one blue, one day light), fit them on last night and the unit is not turning back on anymore, even with the new light tubes.Have tested with different power points in the house, all the same. So i'm guessing it could be the starter or something inside the light unit. However, as the whole light unit of this kind of tank is all closed up, I couldn't figure out a way to open it so just wondering if any of you here may have experienced this or can advice how I can go about fixing this? Can i take it to somewhere to have it fixed? or if there's anyway i can do this on my own... Much appreciate for your help in advance.Cheers,Steve
Link2Hell
from the Juwel manualhttps://www.juwel-aquarium.de/out/media/en/Vision_260.pdfJUWEL End CapsTo ensure the water tightness of your Multilux light system always use genuine JUWELAquarium spare parts. Please note the tube holders are available from your JUWEL Aquarium retailer. In the event of a problem the Multilux light system will automatically switch off.If after replacing both light tubes the unit still fails to work then the unit itself willneed replacing. Please see your aquarium passport for details of which unit you requireor consult your JUWEL Aquarium retailer.Safety instructions:Never use the light system under water.Never attempt to open the light unit or repair it. This is dangerous and willinvalidate your warranty. good that you pay extra for a top end system and get this ..... not but have a look at thishttp://www.fishforums.net/index.php?/topic/265546-fixing-juwel-light-bar/
tropifish
Great !!!I've googled a bit and saw others did manage to repair the unit by replacing the ballast - i'm no DIY person but also don't want to pay $200 for the replacement unit !!! Had a look at the link you sent, most of the pics have been removed. Also i have the tank for over 2 years now so no need to worry about warranty part. This is unfortunately the one bit about this Juwel tank that I don't like about, the rest have been running fine without any issues.Steve
Link2Hell
maybe look at gutting the hood and fitting LEDAoA have some that are inexpensive and work wellin different lengthshave a look at thishttp://www.aceforums.com.au/index.php?showtopic=58935
tropifish
Thanks Chris,Not sure if i'm keen to gut the hood as would want to keep the original look for the tank. After all, it is still a very nice tank (to me at least, lol )Guess either i will have to try cut out the light unit and replace the ballast, or to save up some cash and get a replacement unit. Though much appreciate for all your advise.Cheers,Steve
tropifish
Hi,Left this one for a while and only recently managed to purchase a ballast for my Juwel 260 light unit off Ebay. Unfortunately the new ballast comes with 7 wires ports, where the old one has 6. Been trying with different combination wiring and managed to have 1 tube up and running, when i tried switch the wire to a different port, the other tube started working, but only 1 tube works at a time. I know I'm close but stuck, just need the correct wiring that's all.Does anyone know how to wire a 6 cables ballast on a 7 cables type ballast? Please help.I'll attach a few picture with the wiring diagram on the ballast soon.Cheers,Steve
