Replacement auto feeder suggestion?

Nav

Recommended Posts

So after 5+ years of using my auto feeder, this morning when I was doing my water change on my tank I accidentally knocked my eheim twin barrel auto feeder with my hose and it sank to the bottom of my tank. After trying to dry it out with a blow dryer and trying to dry it out in the sun it seems that it won't be coming back to life (it had a lot of corrosion in the battery compartment).

I'm trying to find a replacement auto feeder but it seems no one has the twin barrel in stock anymore. I liked how the twin barrel had the 'screw' mechanism for dumping food as it gave me very precise drops of food every time. Anyone know of any other auto feeders comparable to the eheim and that does precise dosing of food like the eheim 3582 or am I best sticking with the same one and waiting till it is stocked again

It's funny. I do exactly that chuck. I always reprogram it so that I'll be at home when it goes off. Usually try and bring my two year old there to watch as well. I use it for all my pellet feeds, and feed flake by hand.

I run them when I'm away. Sometimes I think I should set it up full time - and just reload the pellets when I do water changes.
Then I could leave my hood closed and not have to mop my floor every time someone gets overexcited at the sight of me...

My fish tank is really akward to get access to. The tank is in my wall and pretty high off the ground, and tall so I use step ladder to get into the opening above it. I refill the auto feeder about once a month. Batteries seem to last forever, only replaced once in past five years.
