I only managed to get hold of a pair of copadichromis trewavasae 'mloto ivory head', they had their second spawn on Monday and she is still holding, fingers crossed for this mouthful as she only held for 2 days the first time. Now just the age old do I strip and tumble or leave her to do her thing. I hate stripping early, but I'm breeding German import 'red anal fin sciaenochromis fryeri' and they won't hold even 10 days for me I have to strip really early or they just spit.

it really depends at what age they are.if they are young fish just coming on. i would let her carry to term. if she spits so be it . there is plenty of breeding in them left .try not to give her bad habits.if they are an older pair and shes picked up bad habits tumble the eggs

I bought them as wild caught so unsure of age. I'm planning on stripping at about 5-6 days and tumbling I would rather run the risk of her not holding full term in possible future batches and having this batch growing in another tank. See how it goes over the weekend

The issue to strip or not to strip is compounded by the fact that you only have the pair. There is still likely to have other spawns but I would strip in the case so that I have fry growing out and then let her hold in later spawns. You would hate for something to happen to one of the pair before you end up with fry.

I was going to wait until Sunday, but on Saturday she didn't look as swollen and she was holding the eggs further back so I stripped her and they were all infertile. Tumbled them anyway but no good.

I was thinking about it and the male has never displayed as well as he was when I get him. So i changed some things around and added some caves and some dithers and he is a new man. Yesterday and today he is best I have ever seen him, even feeding like a boss. Hopefully he doesn't push the girl around too much so soon after spawning. I will keep an eye on her and split them up if needed

I left her holding till this arvo, 15 days. But earlier than what I like but didn't want to push my luck any further. Result, 35 fry still with egg sack but swimming around. Hopefully they get through the next month ok

I will text you some pics litho. There are about 40 fry that are growing well. I had the pair seperated, but the divider had slipped a little and there was a gap at the top, over the weekend the girl jumped over into the main section. I left her there as she was looking plump, within an hour I came back and she has another mouthful and has jumped back over into the divided off section
