Rocks: How many (005)

Recommended Posts

Hi, Just wondering if a standard four footer with approx 15 kilos of substrate will have any hassles holding approx 20 kilos of rockery?

The stand has four legs, and one support beam in the middle of the stand where the base of the tank rests. (the beam runs from the back to the front of the stand (tank))

Gutty, if you read this you know the tank im talking about.

Cheers, Alan. cool.gif

If its glass is about 4mm thick (ie. not a Dalbarb tank) then i can't see an issue.

If you are worried, get some eggcrate mesh (Aquasonic supplies it) and use that to spread the weight.

Also, check your stand. Add reinforcing pieces. Most pine stands i have seen recently are AWFUL. They rely soley on the 4 legs, and those 4 legs have very little supporting them, usually just nail gun brads.

are you sure that 4mm thick is enough??? I am afraid too thin for standard 4ft. My standard 3ft is 6mm.

If you use egg crate, and the glass thickness is min 6mm, I believe that it should be alright for you to put another 20kg of rocks.

Guest Gutty

Hi Alan, i had a fare amount in there when i had it.

I had all the rocks pictured in it plus the big center rock from the bottom tank(before i got the bottom tank).

Aslong as your gentle and the rocks can't fall over you'll be sweet with 20+kgs in there.
