just want to ask if i can mix geophagus cichlids with discus cichlids?

G'day

Yes it can most certainly be done.

Just be sure that the pH is not too low for the Geo's.

Yes Peter you can mix them as long as you don't keep the water too hot. Discus really prefer warm water, around 29/30 degrees which is a bit warm for Geos to live in long term. Discus also prefer Acidic water which is OK as long as you don't go too far.

The Geos may also be a bit boisterous for the discus especially at spawning time. I have a small pair of Steindachneri kind of sharing a tank with an adult pair of Uaru. The male Red Hump would be 8cm long and the Uaru 30cm long and yet it is petrified of the little Red Hump. You would really have to pick your species of Geo carefully and even then, you can get an agro fish from a strain that is supposed to be very docile.

They will not be an exact mix but not too bad depending on the species of Geo that you chose.
