Adzzy
HiCan you sex these by the pictures? they are mating but i think might both be males due to egg spots and the blue lips????
Buccal
Really hard to tell mate so small.Even when bigger,,, what I thought were males ended up as holding females.I found that females can color up significantly prior to spawning,,, but once holding eggs they color down a bit.Best way without venting to kind of tell sex, is when you see this activity going on,,, look around the anus area of the suspected female and see its wide and squarish looking with possible rise or swelling where the egg tube is beginning to push though. Adzzy
ok will have a look next time but like you said too small and they do it on the bottom towards the back of the tank, so very hard to get a good view.Would a dominant and sub dominant behave like this or only a male and female? Buccal
Yep the dominant will act like that with the sub also. Most cichlids do this a lot when young. But less as they get older. It's like any chance they can get for mock spawnings.
Buccal
But it could be very well m and f. Kind of looks like it if I was forced to make a bet.
